In response to the ever-growing regulatory environment facing Affordable Housing Property Owners and their Managers, OMEGA Affordable Housing Compliance Consulting was created on January 3, 1999, by Monnie G. Smith, TCS.  

Since that time, OMEGA has been instrumental in assisting over 100 + Properties, Owners, Management Companies, and their Staffs to reach and maintain Compliance.

Monnie Smith, TCS, has also conducted more than 50 Compliance Classes in Texas, Arkansas, New Mexico, as well as for the Tarrant County Apartment Association.

Prior to that, Monnie G. Smith, TCS, spent 16 years in Property Management holding every position from Leasing Agent, to Property Supervisor and finally, Corporate Director of Compliance overseeing compliance on more than 3,500 units with two Affordable Housing Programs (HTC & FDIC-AHP), for Hartex Property Group in Dallas, Texas.  Her experience in Property Management ran the entire scope; from Apartments to Condo Associations to raw land to strip centers to mid-rise commercial buildings throughout the DFW area.

In 1998, Monnie received the designation of Tax Credit Specialist (TCS) from the National Center for Housing Managment, Washington, D.C. (NCHM).

OMEGA has been listed on the TDHCA website under Housing Tax Credit Consultants since 2001.

When not reviewing Files and providing Compliance Assistance, Ms. Smith enjoys volunteering for the Ministry of The Way - a homeless outreach providing daily meals, clothing, housing, and other assistance in Trinidad, Co., assisting with fundraising for the historic preservation of Temple Aaron, Trinidad, Co., and, spending time in the great Colorado outdoors.
